Access to our website provides encryption (SSL/TLS).

Usage of our website – as any internet use – has to consider unlimited surveillance by security authorities from European countries, the U.S.A., and other countries. We have no direct control on handling and processing of personal data through intelligence services, police units, or other security authorities.

We apply Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”), for statistical analysis of the usage of our website – this is done without relating to individuals.

Processing of Personal Data

Personal data includes all information on a defined or definable individual. A concerned person is an individual whose personal data are being processed.  Processing comprises any handling of personal data, independent from applied means and methods, in particular including storage, publishing, procuring, deleting, editing, or using of personal data.
The IIW Institute processes personal data in accordance with German data protection legislation. Beyond this, we process personal data – as far as EU data protection directive (DSGVO) is applicable – according to following law paragraphs:

  • Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO for processing of personal data with agreement of the individual concerned.
  • Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO for processing of personal data required for fulfilling a contract with the individual concerned as well as execution of pre-contract activities.
  • Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c DSGVO for processing of personal data for fulfilling an obligation provided by applicable law we may have to comply with within EU or any other country where DSGVO is applicable in total or in parts.
  • Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. d DSGVO for processing of personal data in order to protect viable interests of an individual concerned or any other natural person.
  • Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO for processing of personal data in order to keep our respectively third person´s interests, as long as justifiable rights or interests of the individuals concerned are not compromised.  Justifiable interests in particular include our business interest in providing this website, information security, enforcement of legal claims, and compliance with German law.

Duration of personal data processing depends on the purpose of processing. In case legal or other provisions require extended data storage processing will be reduced accordingly.

Contact forms

Our websites allow for filling contact forms. We store data that have been filled in by website visitors themselves. In addition, IP address, time and date may be stored to protect against abuse such as identity theft or spam.

Third Party Services

We apply web services of Google Corporation. These services make use of Cookies, and data will be transmitted to Google within the U.S.A. – where we trust in individual-related data tracking is not solely done by using our website. Google has commited itself to an appropriate data protection practice in accordance with American-European and American-German Privacy Shield. The IIW Institute hosts its website at Strato AG in Germany.
At Strato AG, any access to our websites induce standardised web server logfile with following details: IP address, date and time including time zone, browser-log-in including  origin of the log-in (Referer), applied operating system, including user interface and version, applied browser including language and version, transmiited data volume.  Logfiles help technical problem detection, data security, and statistics regarding website usage applying Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”), applied by our host service firm Strato AG. We also refer to data protection declarations of Strato AG.

Rights of Individuals Concerned

Visitors of our website as well as other indidividuals concerned of our personal data processing may demand for a cost-free confirmation whether personal data have been processed.  If so, they may demand for information about the processing of their personal data, demand for reducing personal data processing, make use of their right to transfer personal data, and – as far as DSGVO is applicable – have their personal data corrected, deleted, or blocked, revoke agreements and permissions, or contradict against further personal data processing.
Individuals whose personal data are being processed have the right of legal remedy at a supervisory authority for personal data protection.
